TSU Announces Changes To Homecoming Celebration

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Changes are being planned for Tennessee State University's annual homecoming celebration, after two violent incidents shook up the event.

The homecoming parade will no longer go down Jefferson Street, citing "security reasons". This was the scene last year, after two people were shot near the Wendy's on Jefferson Street during homecoming festivities.

The new parade course will begin at the Gentry Complex on Walter Davis Blvd, turn right onto Ed Temple Boulevard, then go to John Merritt Boulevard, where it will proceed towards the main campus.

School officials said that with this year being the centennial celebration, they want to make sure that crowd control is not an issue.
