CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. – A Cumberland County man who was assaulted during a home invasion shot and killed one of his attackers.
Cumberland County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the home for a report of a burglary on Arthur Seagraves Road in the Pleasant Hill community around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
They found the body of 20-year-old Jacob Clark near the house. He had been shot in the chest. They also apprehended his alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Joey Pugh.
Deputies said the two men had broken into the victim's home, and began beating him. That's when he pulled out a gun he had in his pocket and opened fire, hitting one of the men.
Clark's body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office in Nashville for autopsy.
Pugh was charged with aggravated burglary. His bond was set for $500,000, and he was scheduled to be in court next month.
The owner of the home will likely not face any charges. His identity was not released.
The investigation is ongoing.
