Four Teens In Custody In Hadley Park Carjacking

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Four teens were taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the alleged carjacking of a woman in Hadley Park.

Officials said the 59-year-old woman reported she was in her car at the park just south of Tennessee State University around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday when four people approached her at gunpoint and took her vehicle.

The woman told investigators she last saw the suspects as they drove south down 29th Avenue towards Clifton Avenue.

Kris Mumford with the Metro Nashville Police Department said a Metro Parks officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the 700 block of 19th Avenue North, and the four people inside jumped out.

An officer captured a 16-year-old after a brief foot chase, and another 17-year-old was taken into custody at his residence after being identified.

Both were charged with aggravated robbery at Juvenile Court.

The two other teens were being questioned on Wednesday night.

Police said they were able to recover the handgun used in the crime inside the stolen vehicle.
