LEBANON, Tenn. - A new development in Lebanon could change the way people live, work, and commute in Middle Tennessee.
Officials broke ground Tuesday on Hamilton Springs, which will create a traditional neighborhood "Village" of residences and businesses with a Music City Star commuter train at its center.
People who live there will be able to walk to work and shops, and they can walk to the train station if they have to commute into town.
It's a first-of-its kind development in this area.
"This is a step into Lebanon's future. This is bringing a community with capabilities of catching the train, going to Nashville, going to work, coming home," said Lebanon Mayor Philip Craighead.
The first phase of the project will be about 400 residential units. That will be followed by mixed use construction, which will include commercial property, and then the train station itself.
