SPRING HILL, Tenn.- The Spring Hill Board
of Zoning Appeals voted to approve adding a new crematory to their next meeting agenda.
The vote came Thursday night, after owners of Spring Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home petitioned members. This will be the second time the Spring Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home has appealed to the Municipal Board of Zoning.
During a meeting held last week the public was able to weigh in on the issue, but no vote was taken because the city attorney was unable to make the meeting.
Thursday night's vote was 4-1 in favor of adding the proposed
crematory to the Planning
Commission agenda.
The funeral home went before leaders last year, but got turned down, when neighbors complained about safety and health issues. But, a study revealed there was only a small chance the crematory could harm the public.
In the new proposal, the crematory will be located on the same proposed property, but in a new area in hopes of appeasing residents.
