Arrest Made In Springfield Murder Case

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. - Police in Springfield have arrested a man for the murder of another man during a fight.

Officials said that 19-year-old Mandrekus Young was arrested on Thursday. He was charged with criminal homicide in the shooting death of Rashaud Singletary, 20.

Officers were called to a home on John L. Patterson Street in Springfield just after midnight on May 6 for a shooting during a fight.

When they arrived, Singletary was found in the home with a single gunshot wound to the back of his head. Medics rushed him to the hospital, but he died a short time later.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-382-3799.
