JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - Hydrangeas are being celebrated Friday and Saturday at a symposium in Jackson at the University of Tennessee Gardens.
Participants will be told about new varieties, get cultural tips, learn pruning methods and receive instruction on arrangements, dried or fresh.
There also will be a diverse plant sale and tours of three of Jackson's top private hydrangea collections.
According to a news release from the organizers: "Hydrangeas, perhaps once considered old fashioned, have resurfaced on the landscape scene as thoroughly modernized. Improvements in breeding have created shrubs that are healthier and bloom more reliably, yet still add that mood of romance and nostalgia to your landscape."
The UT Gardens is on the grounds of the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center.
