Posted: Updated:

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A committee of the Board of Regents for Western Kentucky University has approved a 2012-2013 operating budget that would raise tuition by 4.8 percent.

The finance and budget committee met on Friday to approve the budget, which will be considered by the full board at their June 22 meeting.

The Daily News reported that the proposed budget is nearly $389 million, an increase of about $3.5 million from the current year's budget.

A 4.8 percent increase would result in tuition costs of $4,236 per semester for a full-time, in-state undergraduate student.
