CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Chattanooga Police said a man they arrested in an assault on a prostitute told them he wanted to emulate serial killer Ted Bundy.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, authorities arrested 23-year-old Tyler Benson on Monday after a woman was beaten on the head with a hammer. She managed to escape and remembered the license number of the car she got into, leading to police arresting Benson.
A police affidavit stated Benson told investigators he enjoyed the feeling of power he had over prostitutes when he attacked them. He told police he had been reading about Bundy, who was executed in Florida after confessing to killing 30 women in seven states in the 1970s.
Police were looking for other women who may have been assaulted.
