50 Shades Of Grey Brings Economic Boost To Nashville

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The 50 Shades of Grey phenomenon means shades of green for local businesses and it's not just providing a boost for bookstores.

The erotic best-seller is also keeping local adult businesses busy. A corporate spokesperson for the local Hustler store tells us that, just as the books have been flying off store shelves their products discussed in the explicit novel have also been selling briskly.

"We are lucky to have grey ties in our product assortment so people have been snapping those up as well," said the spokesperson.

50 Shades of Grey has topped the New York Times bestseller lists but has also caused controversy. Several libraries across the country have refused to carry the book due to its explicit content.

According to its website, the Nashville Public Library carries the book.  And in at least one branch, there's a long waiting list, 407 holds on the book.
