Fort Campbell Seeks Psychiatrists, 48 Needed

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The U.S. Army hospital at Fort Campbell has expanded its search for psychiatrists as most newly created jobs remain unfilled.

Lt. Col. Marla Hemphill heads the Behavioral Health Department at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. The Leaf-Chronicle reported the hospital needs 48 additional psychiatrists.

Hemphill said the need is huge for psychiatrists, psychologists and (behavioral health) social workers, but there is a nationwide shortage in those disciplines. The greatest need is for clinical psychiatrists.

The post's Embedded Behavioral Health Program is trying to establish a 13-person team in each of the 101st Airborne Division's four combat maneuver brigades.
