Richard MauleNASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 45-year-old man has been charged with soliciting a 14-year-old girl for sex, after a texting sting.
Richard C. Maule, of Charlotte, was charged with soliciting a minor for the purpose of statutory rape and soliciting the sexual exploitation of a minor.
An investigation led by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Detective Mike Adkins showed that the 14-year-old began receiving sexually explicit text messages from a man she believed to be the father of another teenager she talked to.
Police said the text messages allegedly sent by Maule asked the teen to send nude photographs of herself and to have sex with him.
A detective later took over the texting, posing as the 14-year-old.
Maule allegedly went to the teen's apartment in West Nashville on Thursday after they made arrangements to have sex in her bathroom at the swimming pool.
He was instead met by a sex crimes detective and arrested.
