NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Many times, they're the ones who respond in life or death scenarios, so being prepared is essential.
Another helicopter was added to Vanderbilt's fleet of LifeFlight helicopters this weekend bringing the total to six. It was added to serve as a back-up when one of the other five is out of service. The chopper can get to the scene of an accident at 150 miles per hour, and it comes with state of the art navigation. Also, this new model gives responders the ability to help the patient from all angles.
"It's a different configuration than what we're used to working out of, but it offers 360-degree patient accessibility. So we can get to the patient's feet, their legs if they have lower extremity fractures, we can get to it real easy," said paramedic, Michael Clements.
Unlike the black and gold helicopters, this one will be blue, silver and white.
