NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Several
Metro Council members put in overtime Saturday as they scrutinized Nashville
Mayor Karl Dean's proposed tax increase.
The open meeting was a
chance for the council to go over every possibility including an alternative
plan that they'll propose to the finance committee.
"All we're gonna do literally is discuss
options. What things will look like if we cut certain areas. What the impact
might look like," said Metro Council Member Steve Glover.
Dean has proposed a
53-cent property tax increase to help fund the city's $1.7 billion operating
budget.
