CMA Auction Supports Domestic Violence Center

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- For the final day of CMA Fest  several country stars contributed some prized possessions on the auction block.

Big Kenny along with NewsChannel 5's Chris Cannon led the 29th annual YWCA Celebrity Auction. Items like signed guitars from Keith Urban all the way to the original hand-written lyrics for Charlie Daniels' "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" were on sale.

The money goes to support the YWCA's Weaver Domestic Violence Center. Organizers say having the auction during CMA Fest not only helps them raise a lot of money, but they say it raises awareness as well because there is a national audience.

Last year the Weaver Center took in almost 400 women and children who needed immediate safety from a domestic violence situation.
