NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A contractor who failed to re-open three lanes of traffic on Interstate 24 westbound in Davidson County during the morning commute Friday has been fined $12,000 by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
TDOT said Pavement Technology, Inc. out of Westlake, Ohio, was supposed to be finished with their work from Haywood Lane to the Rutherford County line by 6 a.m. Friday.
The contractor is being charged $2,000 per lane for each hour after they were supposed to be finished. The five miles of interstate re-opened by 7:30 a.m., but not before backing up traffic for miles.
A wreck in the eastbound lanes that sent two people to the hospital did not affect the traffic, aside from rubbernecking.
