PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn.- The Putnam County Sheriff's Department has asked for nearly $400,000 for jail security upgrades.
Currently the jail has 88 security cameras, but only half of them work. The Columbia Daily Herald writes the request for a new security system was pushed in December, when a fight broke out and officers couldn't see what was happening because of those faulty cameras. Three correctional officers were sent to the hospital.
On Monday The Sheriff's Department technology officer will present several options to the county planning commission, ranging from $41,000 to nearly $400,000.
