NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A son whose father was murdered on the front steps of their home has started a non-profit organization in hopes of finding his father's killer and helping other victims of crime.

Ed Wisdom, 71, was found shot to death on the front porch of his home on Moorewood Drive on October 28, 2011. He had lived in the home for 40 years, and had recently retired as the director of TSU's Management Information Systems graduate program.

Wisdom's son, Ed Wisdom III is using his father's un-solved murder as a source of empowerment. He has started a non-profit organization in his father's memory help combat gang violence, lower criminal activity and mentor at-risk youth.

"I want try to reach individuals before they enter into the juvenile or the prison system,' said Wisdom.

Wisdom believes that by empowering the community through their non-profit work, he can help to prevent crimes like his father's murder. Something that his mother said would have made his father very proud.
