WAUSEON, Ohio (AP) - A trial is getting under way for a Tennessee man charged in the fatal beating of a 14-year-old girl in northwest Ohio in 1985.

The Blade in Toledo reported jury selection was expected to start Monday for the trial of Walter Zimbeck of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee.

He was 18 when the body of his former girlfriend, Lori Ann Hill, was found after a Halloween party near Toledo. Zimbeck was charged with aggravated murder and murder in 2009 after a detective looked into the cold case.

A judge dismissed the charges over defense concerns that too much time had passed, but an appeals court reversed that decision, opening the door for the trial in Fulton County.

Zimbeck's attorney declined to comment Monday before the start of jury selection.
