Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN, Tenn.- Franklin Police issued a citation to a woman who left her baby by itself in a car on Sunday.

Franklin Police issued a misdemeanor citation to a 25-year-old Franklin mom for leaving her infant child unattended in her vehicle while she went into a gas station. It happened at a Mapco on Murfreesboro Road.

Police said the car was running while the mother ran into the store and the doors were unlocked. Officers said that no matter how quick the stop it's against the law to leave a child in a parked car, and violators will be charged.
