COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn.- Coffee County commissioners held a special meeting about the county's animal control policies, after an animal control officer euthanized a dog by shooting it in the head.
The meeting was held Monday evening. Last week, officer Charlie Brown picked up a black lab he thought was a stray. Thinking the dog was in pain and with no veterinarian available he decided to put it down with a gunshot. The dog, named Toby, belonged to the county mayor's son.
Residents also said that the county's animal control office dumps dead animals. Friday, protestors gathered outside the facility, demanding the animal control director be replaced.
