CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A 25-year veteran with the Chattanooga Police Department has been relieved of duty after being reported under the influence of alcohol while on duty.
The police department said in a statement Monday that Steve Jones was riding an assigned Chattanooga Police motorcycle Saturday night during the Riverbend Festival. His blood was drawn and sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to check alcohol level.
The statement said Jones faces possible internal policy violations along with criminal charges.
Additionally, the Internal Affairs Division is reviewing how the preliminary investigation was handled.
