Dr. Karen Cline-Parhamovich
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee has named Dr. Karen Cline-Parhamovich, the current director of forensic pathology at East Tennessee State University's Quillen College of Medicine, as the state's new chief medical examiner.
Cline-Parhamovich told WJHL-TV in Johnson City that she is looking forward to making sure the state's autopsy process is as efficient as it can be.
She said her responsibilities will expand to be more involved with educating local county medical examiners and medical investigators.
She has been serving as the interim chief medical examiner and deputy chief medical examiner since December 2010.
The previous state medical examiner, Bruce Levy, was arrested in March 2010 in Mississippi after investigators found a package of pot with his name on it at a distribution center and more of the drug in his hotel room.
