CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A pregnant woman, who was injured in a crash in Clarksville, delivered her baby after being taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Police said 21-year-old Brooke Golden was driving a Toyota Corolla on Ashland City Road when she went off the side of the roadway for an unknown reason. The car hit a cement culvert, and came to a rest near Seven Mile Ferry Road.
Golden was nine-months pregnant, and suffered facial injuries. Police said she was not wearing her seatbelt and there were no airbags on the driver's side of the vehicle.
She was first taken by ambulance to Gateway Medical Center, and then taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center. She gave birth shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt, and was listed in stable condition.
The Department of Children's Services took custody of the child, who weighed more than five pounds at birth.
Police said the investigation was ongoing, and charges were pending.
