WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn.– Farmers spoiled by an early spring and an early planting season are now praying for a bumper crop of rain, something that seems to be along the lines of wishful thinking.
"Right now, in mid-June, we've got a lot of people that really need some rain," said Dewayne Perry, county director of the Ag Extension Office in Williamson County.
"Most of our county has missed most of the recent rainfall. So, we're extremely dry for this time of year."
Corn and soybean farmer Eddie Sanders said it's dry, but he's not ready to call it a ‘drought' just yet.
"But you put another week or 10 days of this plus 95 degree weather on it – and it can change," Sanders said. "It can cook things pretty quickly, you know?"
