Three Men Arrested In Home Invasions, Sexual Assaults

Posted: Updated:

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. - Authorities in Sumner County have arrested three men they said were responsible for two sexual assaults during home invasions last week.

Officers with the Goodlettsville Police Department arrested 22-year-old Mitchell Anthony Beverly Jr. and 18-year-old Emonnie D. Branch Jr. during a traffic stop on Tuesday night. That led to the arrest of 20-year-old Dwayne D. Fleming.

NewsChannel 5 was the only news crew at the Sumner County jail when the three men were brought in Tuesday night.

"You're accused of breaking in and raping women. Is that true?" NewsChannel 5 reporter Adam Ghassemi asked Branch as officers escorted him inside.

"No man, they accused me but I didn't do it, man. People out here know me better than that," Branch responded.

The first home invasion happened on June 12 around 11 p.m. in the Castalian Springs area. The second invasion occurred on June 14 around the same time at a home on Jill Street in Gallatin. In both cases, two men entered homes during the night, raped the female victims, robbed the homes, and fled the scene.

"We've taken in a lot of phone calls from the public with concern about their safety. Knowing that these individuals have been out there for several days since these incidents happened. So everyone should be able to rest a little more peacefully tonight knowing these bad guys have been taken off the street," said Bill Storment with the Gallatin Police Department.

Branch was held on a $4 million in the Sumner County jail. Beverly was held on $1.6 million bond and Fleming was held on $2 million bond.
