MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Police in Murfreesboro have located the vehicle wanted in connection with a serious hit-and-run incident Saturday morning.

Officials said the vehicle, a Hyundai Santa Fe Crossover, was found at an apartment complex in Murfreesboro. After obtaining a search warrant, police impounded the vehicle for further investigation and evidence processing.

Police are still searching for the driver and possible passengers who were in the car at the time of the hit-and-run crash.

The incident happened at the intersection of south Rutherford and Mercury Boulevard early Saturday morning. The man who was hit, cyclist Donald Faulkner, was taken by emergency medical helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he remains stable in intensive care.

Police said evidence on the car-- damage to a front bumper and hood and specks of red paint-- link the vehicle to the incident.

"A crash like this is not going to leave much damage. It's going to leave very specific damage and that's what we are looking at right here," said one officer.

Detectives ask that anyone who recognizes the SUV contact the Murfreesboro Police Department at 615-849-2670.
