NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Several families were displaced after fire destroyed townhouses in South Nashville.
Flames ripped through the building on Calistoga Way, off Nolensville Pike, just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Everyone made it out safely, but the fire damaged six units—two of those destroyed.
The heat was so intense that it melted the siding on near-by buildings.That that sent owners back into their homes looking for their pets.
"And the police, two officers, great officers went it the house with me to get my dog and two cats. So we were able to get the three of them out. There's not much damage inside, but just looking I can see the back is completely melted," said neighbor Kelly Luton.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators are still trying to figure out how that fire started.
Early reports indicated at that the fire started on the deck of one unit and quickly spread to the attic. Residents reported one of the tenants was cooking on the back porch and they heard an explosion.
