NASHVILLE, Tenn. - On Wednesday, Great Hearts Academies submitted a revised application to open a charter school in Metro Nashville.
Earlier this month, the Metro School Board voted down the charter's application over concerns about its plan for student diversity, transportation plans, and location. Great Hearts said it would appeal, and now its revised application also includes a transportation plan.
That plan includes point-to-point busing from locations within the city and then from future academy locations. Great Hearts also addressed the diversity concerns. The charter operator said it would open enrollment to all students throughout the city, and in the event it ran out of spots, it would hold a blind lottery.
