NASHVILLE, Tenn.- More troubles for Nashville based Corrections Corporation of America. A CCA run prison in Woodville, Mississippi is on lockdown after a riot.
A series of fights between inmates led to 23 inmates being injured Tuesday at the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility, the prison's operator says.
Corrections Corp. of America tells The Natchez Democrat that fights broke out in multiple parts of the Woodville prison Tuesday night.
Three inmates were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Another 20 were treated at the prison for injuries.
CCA, based in Nashville, Tenn., said it took employees about an hour to contain the fights. The company said no staff members were injured. It said the Mississippi Department of Corrections had sent officials to the 995-bed prison, which houses state inmates.
A riot last month at CCA's Adams County Correctional Facility near Natchez resulted in the death of a prison guard. That prison houses federal inmates.
