RECIPE #4846 - SUMMER BURGERS, June 21, 2012

A Burger Bar is a great way your guest can put a different spin on the All-American "classic burger"! Here are a variety of burgers your "bar" can create:

  • Garden Burger
  • BBQ Pulled Pork Burger
  • Hawaiian Chicken Pineapple Burger
  • Tex-Mex Turkey Burger
  • Cajun Salmon Burger

 Recipe for the Meat:

  • 1 1/2  pounds ground beef, preferably chuck (Use same portion for ground chicken, turkey, salmon and pulled pork)
  • Lawry's Season Salt or Adobe Seasoning and freshly ground pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for the grill


Use Fresh Ground, Pulled or Meat Patty of Choice -

Beef Patties - Form meat into four 6-ounce patties, about ¾- inch thick; press the center of each patty with your thumb to make a ½ -inch-deep indentation. Season the patties on both sides with Lawry's or Adobe seasoning. Lightly brush the grill grates with vegetable oil, then grill the patties, indentation-side up, until marked on the bottom, about 5 minutes. Flip and cook until marked and slightly firm, about 3 more minutes for medium doneness. Remove the patties to a plate and let rest 5 minutes. Grill the buns, cut side down, until lightly toasted, about 1 minute.

If using Turkey, Chicken or Salmon - Place patties on an uncovered grill directly over medium coals; cook for 15 to 18 minutes or until an instant-read thermometer inserted in side of patty registers 165 degrees F., turning once.

Pulled Pork - Season and cook Boston Butt in a slow cooker until meat is tender. Pull meat apart, top with Honey Barbecue Sauce.

  • Whole-wheat seeded buns, split
  • Sour-dough buns
  • Poppy seed buns
  • Rye Bread (slices)
  • Hawaiian Sweet Breads



  • Spinach
  • Zucchini Sticks
  • Sautéed Portabella Mushrooms

  • Sweet & Sour Sauce
  • Bell Peppers 

  • Red-leaf lettuce leaves
  • Alfalfa sprouts
  • Pineapple rings
  • Honey BBQ Sauce
  • Cajun-style Mayonnaise
  • Louisiana Hot Sauce

  • Micro Greens
  • Spring Mix
  • Arugula
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • American Cheese
  • Pepper Jack Cheese

  • Red Onions
  • Fresh Chili (with or without meat)
  • Heirloom Tomatoes (variety of colors of beefsteak tomatoes)
  • Tortilla Strips
  • Mustard & Ketchup
