GALLATIN, Tenn.- Just east of Gallatin there has been as solid show of support by residents opposing a rock quarry in Castalian Springs.
State Representative Mike McDonald presented members of the Save Castalian Springs organization with a copy of a resolution passed by the legislature, which says residents don't want a rock quarry there.
Last year, Western Farms LLC bought hundreds of acres along Highway 25 in hopes of building a quarry, but the county denied its zoning request. Opponents say the site is too close to several sites, including Wynnewood, Hawthorne Hill, and a Native American burial mound.
