NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A woman was hit and killed by a pickup truck while crossing the street in Bellevue on Thursday night.
The victim, 60-year-old Patricia Sharpe was on Highway 70 South at Colice Jeanne Road putting up garage sale signs on light poles just around 10:45 p.m.
As she went to cross the highway, she was hit by a Nissan pickup truck, driven by 18-year-old Cameron Clark. Sharpe died on the scene.
Police said Clark told them he noticied a pickup truck stopped on the shoulder of Highway 70, When he looked back he saw Sharpe walk into his path and said he did not have time to stop.
Clark and a witness told police that the traffic signal had changed from green to yellow as he was entering the intersection. Police said preliminary evidence showed Sharpe did not have the right of way to cross the roadway.
Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash. No charges have been filed, but police continue to investigate.
