Two Shelter Workers Reprimanded Over Dog's Death

Posted: Updated:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Two Memphis Animal Services employees have been reprimanded for mistakes made when a woman's dog was mistakenly euthanized.

City officials confirmed to The Commercial Appeal that Vincetta Jackson and Glenn Lanton both received written reprimands over the death of a 9-month-old Labrador/American bulldog mix named Nola.

The manager of the city's animal shelter was fired after officials discovered that workers put an incorrect date on the dog's intake form, making it appear the dog had been in the shelter for a month.

The dog was euthanized on May 4, just a day after she was found after escaping her owner's yard. Owner Victoria Henry called the punishments a slap on the wrist.
