SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. – Fire crews in Sumner County were called out to fight a barn fire on Friday.
A barn behind a house caught fire around 11:30 a.m. on Mutton Hollow Hill Road near Westmoreland.
Approximately four to five fire trucks were on the scene. The barn was seriously damaged. Firefighters were able to knock the flames down quickly. The intense heat outside made for some extra challenges especially since firefighters were having to work around hot tin from the barn's roof.
The property owner rushed in to get the animals to safety and did suffer minor smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
