DOVER, Tenn. - A head-on collision in Stewart County sent three women to the hospital, two in critical condition, on Sunday afternoon.
Investigators said 26-year-old Alaina Armstrong was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee north on State Route 120 in Dover around 2:30 p.m. She was trying to make a left turn into the Dean's Market parking lot on Brandon Dodd Road when a Chevy Silverado coming in the opposite direction attempted to avoid a collision by swerving.
The Jeep also swerved to miss the Silverado, but they ended up hitting at a head-on angle. Both Armstrong and a passenger, 29-year-old Amber McDaniel, were taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Another passenger, 21-year-old Whitney Gregory, was injured and taken to Gateway Medical center in Clarksville. Her injuries were unknown.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, none of the women were wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Silverado, 18-year-old Ryan Warren, suffered only minor injuries. Authorities said he was wearing a seatbelt.
