NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A swimmer was killed after falling into Percy Priest Lake on Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Seven Points Recreation Area, off Stewarts Ferry Pike, around 12:30 p.m.

Police said the man was identified as 50-year-old Timon Mark Rice, of Franklin Limestone Road. Officials said that Rice was walking with a friend in some shallow water when he fell or lost his balance and went into a deep pocket of the lake.

Police believed that Rice was underwater for about three minutes before he was rescued. CPR was performed, but Rice later died at Summit Medical Center.

Officials said that an autopsy will be conducted Tuesday to determine whether a medical issue was to blame for Rice's fall.
