Accident At Zinc Plant Injures Two Employees

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Two employees were injured in an accident at a Clarksville Zinc Plant on Monday afternoon.

The explosion happened just before 5 p.m. at the Nyrstar zinc plant on Zinc Plant Road. The company said in a news release Tuesday it happened in one of the electric motor control centres in the roasting department.

The two employees were taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

There was no damage to the plant, and production was not impacted.

The company said an investigation was underway to determine what caused the accident.
