NASHVILLE, Tenn – Nearly two dozen local area swimmers are headed to Omaha, Nebraska this week to compete in the U.S. Olympic trials in hopes of making it to the 2012 Olympic Games in London this summer.

"I'm really excited, I never thought that I would be here," says 17-year-old Morgan Flynn who'll be swimming with some of the world's best on Saturday.

For Morgan and her teammates this week is a culmination of sorts for something they've dedicate most of their life to, swimming.

"Four years ago when I was watching the Olympic trials I was said that would be so cool to go and so just the opportunity to be there will be amazing," Morgan added.

While Morgan is amazed her coach Doug Wharam is proud.

"The experience is what's important; we're looking at half of one percent of all the swimmers in the United States qualify for this meet," Doug explained.

All of the 18 swimmers headed to the Olympic trials are part of the Nashville Aquatic Club, the group also helps pay to send the young swimmers to Nebraska so they can compete.

"To have this be the ultimate reward for them is very satisfying."
