CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Clarksville family is wondering why their neighbor took it upon himself to shoot and kill their 7-year-old boxer named Shane last week.
"He was like a family member and we essentially lost a family member," says Christina Dasher whose daughter owns Shane.
Much like the division the fence in between 2134 and 2132 Singletree Drive creates though, there are two sides to this story.
According to neighbor Javis Ozell Shane got into his yard and charged at him last Wednesday night around 6p.m. Then for a reason police still can't explain, Javis' friend Oliver Harden went inside, grabbed a gun and shot Shane which eventually killed the pup.
"We've still not been able to get the body of the dog, we've not been able to get it autopsied or cremated we don't know the whereabouts of him. If you had time to go into your house and get a gun and come back out and shoot a dog, you had time to call animal control to have them pick the dog up," Christina added.
Clarksville police gave Oliver Harden a misdemeanor ticket for the offence and Christina says her family plans on filing a civil suit over the matter.
Neither Ozell or Harden wanted to comment for this story.
