NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Mayor Karl Dean said that this week's announcement of disgraced County Clerk John Arriola's resignation was a "good opportunity" for Metro to find the right man for the job.
"Going forward I hope that the Council looks at it and as the citizens of Nashville look at it, they look from someone who is a strong administrator, somebody who cares about public service and somebody who cares about efficiency and effectiveness," said Dean.
Arriola resigned on Monday after a year of calls for him to step down. Arriola was the subject of a News Channel 5 investigation last June, which found that he was taking cash wedding fees from young couples and pocketing the cash.
A state audit this year estimated that he made as much $119,000.His resignation kept him from facing criminal charges with the state.
