WASHINGTON, D.C- Senator
Lamar Alexander and thirty other Republican lawmakers said they want a special
counsel appointed to investigate what he calls an "avalanche" of
national security breaches at the White House.
The group made the request
in a letter sent to Attorney General Eric Holder on Tuesday.
They argue only an
independent, outside special counsel could investigate the leaks that appear to
be coming from President Obama's administration.
The group includes
Alexander and Senators Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky. Holder has
already appointed two US Attorneys who he says will be independent and
thorough.
