Pet Owners Warned About Hot Temps

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Officials are reminding pet owners to keep a close eye on their furry loved ones when the mercury starts rising.

A spokesperson with the Nashville Pet Emergency Clinic said the dangers come not just from owners who neglect their dogs and leave them tied up outside, but even from people who take their animals for a run.

"Even an early morning run can lead to serious problems within as little as 20 minutes," said the spokesperson.

Owners need to be aware that heat stroke is a serious problem for pets, one that leads to expensive treatment and a poor prognosis.
