BRENTWOOD, Tenn.- Some
residents in Brentwood were without power on this hot summer day, and while
there's never a great time to lose power, a day with temperature passing 100 degrees doesn't
seem to be a good time at all.
Middle Tennessee Electric
said nearly 3,000 customers were without power early Saturday afternoon. By
5:00 that number was down to about 300.
The electric company said
a faulty piece of equipment caused a line to fall, and they had to send
servicemen out to correct the problem, but everyone should have power restored
by Saturday evening.
Similarly Friday, a brief outage left nearly 7,000 Brentwood residents
without power. That power outage was mainly in the Old Smyrna Road area. Officials
were not sure of the cause of that outage, but crews were sent out to the area
to make repairs and the power was restored.
A spokesperson for NES said that the cause of the
outage Friday could have been heat-related. With everyone coming home from work
and adjusting their thermostats, it may have tripped the system.
