SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire at a Shelbyville home that claimed the life of an elderly woman.
70-year-old Freida Fuston called 911 around 11 p.m. Saturday and said she was in her bedroom and couldn't get out. Fuston was disabled and used an electric wheelchair.
Officials said the intense flames prolonged firefighters' attempts to remove Fuston from the home, but they eventually retrieved her body.
She is believed to have died of smoke inhalation.
