Ryan Suter Hits The NHL Free-Agent Market

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - NHL free agency has started with All-Star Ryan Suter on the market.

Suter's agent said Saturday that the Nashville Predators will be in the mix to keep the defenseman.

The other top forward, Zach Parise, was also listening to suitors Sunday afternoon. New Jersey attempted to re-sign Parise. The Devils now have to compete with other offers for him.

Parise and Suter are both 27, potentially entering the prime of their careers.

Teams seeking a short-term answer in net may make offers to 40-year-old goaltender Martin Brodeur, who, like Parise and Suter, has only been with one NHL team. Brodeur has played for the Devils since the 1991-92 season.
