COLUMBIA, Tenn. - Columbia Police Chief Joseph Bishop announced that he will resign from the position.
On Friday, Bishop submitted his resignation effective July 15.
Bishop has been the head of the Columbia Police Department since 2008. He is a 34-year law enforcement veteran.
He will join the state Department of Corrections as Director of the Department of Investigations and Compliance.
Assistant Chief Tim Potts has been appointed to serve as Interim Chief.
