Franklin Police Enact Zero Tolerance For Tossed Cigarettes

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Police in Franklin will be on the lookout for anyone who doesn't properly dispose of a cigarette.

While improperly disposing of a cigarette is already illegal, officials said there will be zero tolerance for the careless disposal of a cigarette because of the dry condition.

Anyone found improperly disposing of a cigarette are subject to a $50 fine, plus court costs. Also if a fire is caused because of the tossed bud, the subject could face additional criminal and civil penalties.
