MOUNT PLEASANT, Tenn. - Scattered storms that moved through the mid-state on Monday left some serious damage in Mount Pleasant.
Police Chief Goetz said that storms that moved through the area around 5 p.m. downed several trees and power lines. Several power poles were snapped along South Main Street and Mount Joy Road.
One Duck River employee was injured while crews were working to repair some downed lines on Mount Joy Road. Officials said that a piece of equipment they were working with malfunctioned. The employee was injured, and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-critical injuries..
Police also said that the roof of the United Waste Haulers Recycling on Mount Joy Road was blown off during the storm.
