NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been charged with criminal homicide after turning himself into police.
Rico Boyce, 20, surrendered to officers at the Madison Precinct on Tuesday. During an interview, he allegedly admitted to shooting 25-year-old William Stokes during an argument on Monday night.
Boyce told detectives that he was with Stokes and a group of people on Patton Hill Road when an argument broke out around 11 p.m. Monday. Boyce said he fired approximately eight rounds from a .45 caliber handgun towards Stokes, who was hit.
Stokes had come to the scene in a van, and a friend drove him to her home on Meadow Court where an ambulance was called. He was critically injured, and died Tuesday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Police also recovered .45 caliber casings at the scene.
Boyce was held without bond at the Metropolitan jail.
